Black and White
Subhash Ghai has adorned the cap of director years after Kisna. I applauded him when he helped to produce Nagesh Kukunoor’s -Dor.
Black and White is an amateurish, weak, vague and feeble attempt by him to capture the essence of two diversities of life-good or bad, holy or evil. The movie is an overcooked mixture of CLICHES. The metaphors used are so boring that you find it hard to believe a reputed director has carved them out. The starting of the movie is a pain in itself. Imagine a movie on terrorist being started off with a child lighting a candle and then a fire shot and candle goes out. I have a question here-is the movie created by students of Mr. Ghai’s academy-Whistling Woods. It made me scratch my head.
Coming to performances- Anil Kapoor as urdu teacher is cliched too but he tries to do fair justice to the role. Anurag Singh the new find has tried to potray a dangerous terrorist look- no need to say fails completely. But its not his acting histronic- the screenplay lets his character down. Imagine he kills at mere mention of a dialog and then says one line to justify it. The guy has screen presence and potential. Shefali Shah- O god. She was so loud and overtly exuberant that it made me quit the movie half way through. The new girl opposite Anurag looks like out of a reality tv show.
Music is trademark niche Sukhwinder Singh. Only Peer Manava is average.
My rating- 1
