So what’s my story
Although the blogfolks already know a great deal about me courtesy my personal posts and gtalk rants and numerous Facebook quiz results
, I thought umm if I had to create an ‘About Me’ page what will I write? So this is more of a self test rather than a sharing page!! Hope I do well…
My real name is Mahak (correct spelling Mehak meaning Fragrance), the first sentence doesn’t implies I am have consulted Jumaanis or Sunita Menon. My mum is a Ekta Kapoor buff yeah so here goes! I have been born and brought up in Delhi, India and trust me I haven’t seen half of Delhi yet!!! I have not seen the Lotus Temple or Qutub Minar or The Famous Akshardham Temple which is right in front of our house.
I have done my schooling from St. Jospeh’s Academy and Aadarsh Shiksha Niketan. Both schools are a complete contrast to each other, first being a Convent school with modern traditions and the latter being a staunch Vedic principles school with traditional concepts. I still miss my St Joseph’s days more than I miss my ASN days. I have been naughty as a kid…naah I still am. I have been sensitive and emotional. I was very nervous and shy kid. So much shy that I was scared of entering the class full of people. I have always loved dancing and singing….so much I even sing in my sleep. The fear of public appearance was done away in standard V when I gave a speech on Dussehra in hindi. The speech was in chaste hindi and very long. Everyone was blown away considering my age and cute voice. The Chairman could have almost hugged me and the audience applaused twice! Since then there was never looking back – I was the default orator for all the events winning lots of awards for declamation and elocutions. Being the prefect, vice-captain, captain, vice head girl and headgirl was the life cycle from standard VIII to XII.
I was apprehensive about my looks in school days. I firmly believe I am ‘The Ugly Duckling’ story personified. I looked dark and was was so much thin that my friends jokes about it. They asked me to keep a Rs.5 coin in my pocket whenever I was sitting next to the window desk. On top of it I absolutely abhorred my new glasses in standard XI. I had my own sorrows of failed crushes, who now I think are bunch of weirdos.
I had a massive love affair with hehe Hrithik Roshan when Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai released. I used to see his pics before giving my exams. I took printout of his complete webiste and cut out all his pics that appeared in magazines and newspapers and glued them in my diary.
I started writing poems when I was four or five may be…dad used to keep track of them and made a nice pink manilla sheet book for me to compile them. Don’t know where it is now! I love the color pink not because of my fair share of blonde moments but yeah because it means happiness to me! For weird reasons I don’t like brown.
I am closer to my in laws than I am closer to my mum. I am not close to my bro for non-existent reasons. I can’t survive without 1 minutes of my hubby’s company. He takes care of me like a 2 year old! That involves running after me for glass of milk or my medicines. I still don’t think I am married it feels like a live-in relationship with him. He makes me happy and takes out the best out of me. He is my support system and I know god sent him at the correct time. God knew I can’t be too happy with love from two most devoted men, so he took away one from me and compensated me with another. Anupam reminds me of my dad in everything he does. Its said that a girl always looks out for a guy like her father – its true!
If I could change one thing about Indian laws then it would be the Dowry Laws. I think girl’s parents take unnecessary advantage of it and bully. They are the social terrorists.
I don’t miss India a lot. This is a confession. I just miss my parents and my bro in law who is a saint and has a halo of calm contenance. I don’t want to go back to India and stay there – I don’t share the pain I have inside my heart. But few people inflicted a lot of pain on my heart. I don’t want to remember anything about my wedding as I was tired after arranging for my own wedding and running from pillar to post. I don’t want to remember my mehendi ceremony where I was crying and no one to console except the mehendi artist in house full of my own family members!
Ok anyways lets move on! I love getting presents. I just love them. I jump, I laugh, I smile and can’t control my emotions when I get one. Equally important I can’t hide my dismay or irritation upon receiving a bad present. I rarely use or look at a present I don’t like! My last pressie was a Karaoke Machine which I received as part of a Treasure Hunt game my hubby played with me (told you he treats me like a 2 yr old!).
I don’t take his name and I don’t call others as ‘tum’. I love Jagjit Singh Ji and wish Chitra Singh Ji makes a comeback. I am deeply disturbed by stories of Madhubala and Aarushi Talwar. I still hope the latter finds justice.
I love New Zealand a lot. The beauty is marvellous.Other countries that I want to vist are Italy, Greece, The Netherlands and UK.
I love cooking – Italian and Indian are my speciality.
I can’t survive without my iPOD and my laptop. My laptop has over 2000 pics and I browse thru them quite often.
I don’t have many close friends as I do talk to people but hardly open up; only few take special place in my heart. I am a lot like Naina of Kal Ho Naa Ho (not using the obvious FB quiz result lol)
Post 2007 I don’t trust easily, I don’t forget and I hardly forgive! My intuition is strong. I have consulted a psychic.
I have stolen, broken hearts, told a lie and got away with it!
Namaskaar, Kia Ora, Ni Hao...This is my space with some personal rants that I am sure you must agree sometimes and nod your head and say -'Same Pinch'....loaded with some short stories, some thoughts...and lots of Zing and Zest

Wow – your life is very interesting.
I’m glad you love New Zealand. I live across the pond in Australia and I love it here. Hope I’ll get to visit New Zealand one day. It sounds beautiful.
I can recommend visiting Italy and Greece. Rome is my favourite city. Interestingly, my husband loved Athens.
UK and Netherlands are definitely worth visiting too – but go in Summer!

Hi
Nice blog and nice intro
Got confused by this line “I think girl’s parents take unnecessary advantage of it and bully” I think you meant the “Guys’s parents”

Hi Nova,
I do mean GIRL’s parents…I know people don’t agree with this comment..but I have been a victim of this from both my families’ side – I have seen both set of my parents going through emotional trauma courtesy the social terrorism these people caused in name of dowry laws. I am too hurt to say – but girls these days are not as innocent. For them dowry law is a weapon to destruct families. Let me reiterate and say I am taking about only few of them not all of them!
keep visiting
And hows married life treating you?

Hi Sarita,
The beauty of a deep committed relationship is not the lovely moments – rather the rocky road journey. At the end of 20 years down the lane, these rocky road incidents will refresh the feeling of love.
I hope things turn pretty for you and you BF. I am sure he will understand. I have had my own share of such phases but trust me each one of them has made me stronger.
Thanks you for your kind comments – it touches my heart to see people actually appreciating my work or else sometimes I have pondered over stopping my blog. I will pray for you surely
infact I just did…
God bless you two

Very well written Anu! Why don’t you take up writing on a full time basis as I can already see traces of a budding writer there. I have come to know you so much better after reading this piece. Do keep it up!

I‘m sure many of you are like me and one of the first things you do in the morning is head here and check out the new post. Along with seeing the new posts, I’m also always checking out the blog roll rss feed and watching them grow, or shrink sometimes. In one of my past …but all in all excellent site. Keep it up!
